The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Electrical Power Testing - Level III certification is an intermediate-level credential designed for technicians who inspect, test and maintain equipment used in the production, transmission, and distribution of electrical power. Electrical Power Testing - Level III technicians manage switching procedures, perform tests of complex equipment, analyze test and equipment data, plan work and manage teams. Candidates must meet experience requirements and pass a written exam.

Credential Pre-requisite REQUIREMENTS
Candidate for the Electrical Power Testing - Level III certification must meet the experiential and exam requirements for the Electrical Power Testing - Levels I and II certifications.
Education and/or Experience REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have at least five years of practical experience in the testing of electrical power equipment, including a full range of equipment in low, medium, and high voltage systems including one year of supervision and project management of two or three-person test crews.
Candidate who has earned a degree in an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering technology or engineering program (or equivalent) directly related to certification practice area may qualify to receive up to 18 months of credit towards the work experience requirement. Other REQUIREMENTS
The Electrical Power Testing - Level III credential has the following other requirements:
- Candidate must obtain supervisor verification of all subfields/technical areas used to meet the experience requirement.
- Candidate must submit a personal recommendation showing capacity for performing independent electrical power testing responsibilities.
- Candidate must agree to adhere to the NICET Code of Ethics.
