The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Associate Electronics Technician (CETa) is an entry-level certification for technicians who have less than two years of experience or training in electronics. Associate Electronics Technicians demonstrate knowledge of basic electronic theory and applications used in all electronic disciplines including circuits, test equipment, electrical theory, work procedures and telecommunications fundamentals. The CETa is the foundation for ETA’s journeyman, senior, and master specialty, and master certification programs. CETa applicants must meet the experience or training requirement and pass a written exam. An optional practical exam is offered.

The Society of Broadcast Engineers, Inc (SBE), Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBT) is an entry-level certification that provides knowledge for employment in the operational and technical areas of television broadcast stations, broadband distribution centers, sports stadiums, cable companies, video production studios, and other related fields by learning the installation, operation, and maintenance skills necessary in the industry. There is no experience requirement to be eligible for the examination. Candidates must achieve a passing grade on the proficiency examination.

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), RADAR Electronics Technician (RAD) is a journeyman-level certification recommended for radar electronics technicians with knowledge of radar basics and concepts applicable to all types of avionics, maritime and land systems. RADAR Electronics Technicians must be knowledgeable and have abilities in technical and human relations areas including, Block Diagrams and Schematics, Components, Cabling and Antennas, Hand Tools & Soldering, Mathematics, Amplifiers, RADAR Transceivers, Interfacing, Satellite, Wireless, and Data Communications, Computers and Digital Concepts, Software Programming, Troubleshooting, and People Relations. Candidates must hold the Associate Electronics Technician (CETa) certification prior to taking the RADAR exam. Individuals with a valid FCC Element 8, and either the ETA Associate CET (CETa) or a Journeyman (CET) certification, are eligible for a rollover to an ETA RADAR certification. The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), CompTIAA+ ce certification validates the entry-level computer technician’s competency to perform a myriad of critical IT support tasks. CompTIA A+ ce technicians demonstrate abilities in hardware, networking, mobile devices, operating systems, hardware & network troubleshooting, virtualization & cloud computing, software troubleshooting, security, and operational procedures. The Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP), Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE) is an expert level Wi-Fi certification for the most elite Wi-Fi professionals. The WCM certification is targeted toward professionals performing installation, maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed radio communications systems. Candidates seeking the ETA-I WCM credential are required to have a basic education in fundamental electronics and must pass the Associate (CETa) exam before qualifying to sit for the Journeyman level certification exam. Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Security+ ce certification designates knowledgeable professionals in the field of IT security. Security+ ce is an entry-level certification that demonstrates a candidates knowledge and skills required to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks, and devices; perform threat analysis and respond with appropriate mitigation techniques; participate in risk mitigation activities; and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations. The successful candidate will perform these tasks to support the principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. It is recommended that candidates hold the Network+ and two years of experience in IT administration with a security focus.

Candidates applying for IND certification are required to already hold the Associate Electronics Tecnician (CETa) certification and are expected to understand basic industrial electronics concepts applicable to various specialty areas of industrial electronics. IND candidates must be knowledgeable and have skills in the following areas: Amplifiers, Optical Wiring, Block Diagrams Schematics, Power Supplies, Test Equipment Tools, Mathematics, Computers Digital Concepts, Safety, Satellite Wireless Data, Communications, Cabling, Troubleshooting, Motors, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Software. The American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Calibration Technician (CST) tests, calibrates, maintains and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, analytical and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. Candidates must have five years of on-the-job experience in one or more of the areas of the Certified Calibration Technician Body of Knowledge. If the candidates have completed a degree from a college, university, or technical school with accreditation accepted by ASQ, part of the five-year experience requirement will be waived. Candidates must pass a written examination.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Technician certification requires candidates to provide record of six years or more of experience in EMC technician work. Graduation from an iNARTE-approved electronics technology curriculum of two years or U.S. Navy Class "A" school is considered equivalent to one year of required experience. Engineering teaching of a character satisfactory to iNARTE may be considered as a maximum of two years experience. Candidates must submit a minimum of one supervisory reference and two additional references each supporting character and competency as an EMC Technician, and must compose 10 original multiple choice questions with correct answers and supporting references. Candidates must also pass an examination, which covers topics such as Bonding, Shielding, Grounding, and lightning interference. The Society of Broadcast Engineers, Inc (SBE), Certified AM Directional Specialist is an intermediate-level credential. SBE Specialist crtifications require that candidates hold an SBE Engineer certification- the Broadcast Engineer, Senior Broadcast Engineer or Professional Broadcast Engineer Certification. The AM Directional Specialist certification evaluated an individual's ability to perform the necessary tasks to keep facilities operating properly. Candidates must have knowledge of AM radiators, understanding of the principles of phase addition and cancellation, familiarity with the various components used in a directional antenna system, and ability to correctly make necessary measurements and take proper procedures to make repairs and adjustments to the system. The DRB helps evaluate candidates ability to perform the necessary tasks to build and keep facilities operating properly.
