ASI Description

Identifies positions in a chemical platoon requiring Soldiers qualified to operate the M93 Series CBRN Reconnaissance System Fox.

CSPs conduct worksite assessments, determine risk, measure hazards and controls, evaluate risk and hazard control measures, investigate incidents, maintain incident and loss records, and prepare emergency response plans. CSP candidates must meet experiential requirements that relate to the field of workplace safety. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists, Registered Radiation Protection Technologist (RRPT) validates competency in fundamental and operational topics related to radiation protection. RRPTs provide radiation protection, mitigating radiation hazards as much as reasonably achievable, to the radiation worker, the general public, and the environment from the effects of ionizing radiation. RRPTs demonstrate an understanding of the natural laws of ionizing radiation, the mechanism of radiation damage, methods of detection, and hazards assessment. Further, RRPTs provide supervisory, administrative, and/or physical control, utilizing sound health physics principles in compliance with local and statutory requirements and accepted industry practices.  Applicants must pass a written exam.

The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification demonstrates a professional's ability to handle, manage, or advise others on hazardous materials in a safe and compliant manner. A CHMM may work for a corporation, business, government, or in a related field associated with hazardous materials such as environmental protection, safety, hazmat transportation, or security.  Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of relevant work experience.  Candidates must also pass a written exam.

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel – X-Ray and RAM (IRSSP-Combo) certification is for individuals who perform or supervise industrial radiography utilizing radiation-producing equipment. Candidates must meet the ASNT IRRSP training and experience requirements. Candidates must pass the written and practical exams.

The United States Department of Transportation (FMCSA), Hazardous Material Endorsement (H) is a credential that may be obtained by individuals who are commercial driver's license (CDL) holders. The Hazardous Material Endorsement (H) permits the professional truck driver to transport hazardous materials (HAZMAT); the endorsement is required to legally transport hazardous material. To earn the Hazardous Material Endorsement (H), candidates are required to be CDL holders, be a U.S. citizen or able to provide proof of legal status in the United States, be of legal age to operate a HAZMAT vehicle, willing to complete the TSA background check and to pass this check plus additional background checks. Candidates must complete a medical screening and pass the written exam.

Moderate ease of attainment: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement = Associate's and/or prerequisite and/or minimum experience = more than 2 years and less than 10 years of experience.

Low

May be difficult to attain: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement is a Bachelor's degree, and/or minimum experience is 10 or more years.
