MOS 31B Military Police

MOS Description

Military police supervise or provide support to the battle field by conducting maneuver and mobility support (MMS), area security, internment resettlement operations, police intelligence operations, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, law and order operations on the battlefield and support to the peacetime Army community through security of critical Army resources, crime prevention programs and preservation of law and order. Enlisted Service members in CMF 31 and Warrant Officers holding the WO MOS 311A may be eligible to apply for the Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) exam. Successful completion of the exam would allow you to earn the POST license required for civilian employment as a peace officer in Missouri. CPP candidates must have been employed full-time in a security-related role and meet education and/or experience requirements, which include at least three years of experience in responsible charge of a security function. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification is an intermediate, managerial credential developed for professionals who demonstrate competency and work part-time or full-time in supervisory positions with tasks devoted to the prevention of harm to individuals in the workplace environment. The STS is often sought by safety professionals who are first-line supervisors and managers. STS applicants must have expertise in monitoring worksites for job hazards, helping to ensure regulatory compliance occurs, training employees in safety practices, performing safety-related record keeping, coordinating corrections for safety problems within or among work groups, and communicating with safety specialists or management. Applicants must pass a written examination.

The ASIS International, Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certification, is designed for security professionals whose primary responsibilities are to conduct investigations and who have demonstrated in-depth operational knowledge and competence. Candidates must not have been convicted of any criminal offense that would reflect negatively on the security profession, ASIS, and the PCI program. Candidates must meet experience and/or education requirements. Candidates must pass an examination.

The International Association of Interviewers (IAI), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) is for candidates who have expertise in conducting a variety of investigative interviews with victims, witnesses, suspects or other sources to determine the facts regarding suspicions, allegations or specific incidents in either public or private sector settings.  The CFI demonstrates understanding of legal aspects of interviewing and proficiency in interview preparation, behavioral analysis, accusatory and non-accusatory interviewing, documentation, and presentation of findings. Candidates must meet a combination of experience and education requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI), Certified Professional Investigator (CPI), is a recognized symbol of excellence and achievement in the investigator and security professions. Candidates must be a licensed Private Investigator or the equivalent and have been licensed for a minimum of three consecutive years immediately preceding submitting an application. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR), Accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist certification is for police officers, engineers, private investigators, and others who are trained and experienced in accident investigation and reconstruction in the United States or Canada. Candidates are required to know how to reconstruct an accident scene and to be knowledgeable about airborne, kinetic energy, momentum, time and distance, lamps, scene examination and measurement, tire mark evaluation and evidence and vehicle evidence. Candidates must pass a written theory and a practical/case study accident reconstuction analysis exam.

International Association for Identification (IAI),Tenprint Fingerprint Certification is designed for individuals who are currently working in the field of tenprint matters. Tenprint Fingerprint Certification recognizes an applicant's knowledge of tenprint examinations, historical and current tenprint guidelines and standards, the history, foundation and scientific methodology used in Friction Ridge Science, and current topics and/or scientific studies within the tenprint discipline. Applicants should be able to compare friction ridge impressions of known to unknown subjects and arrive at a conclusion based on current objectively accepted methodology, recognize and interpret friction ridge impressions, and accurately record a complete tenprint record. Eligibility requirements for Tenprint Fingerprint Certification include formal education, technical training, experience, and two letters of endorsement. Applicants must pass an exam and submit a personally recorded tenprint record.

International Association for Identification (IAI), Footwear Certification is for applicant's who have in-depth knowledge and understanding of terminology, detection, recovery, photography, preservation, enhancement, analysis, comparison, manufacturing processes, and documentation and reporting of footwear impression evidence. Applicants are primarily employed in the field of Forensic Science with duties that include the examination of footwear impression evidence. Applicants must meet formal education, technical training, and experience requirements, and provide two letters of endorsement. Applicants must pass both a written exam and practical problems exam.

Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Law of Data Security and Investigations (GLEG) is an advanced level certification targeted toward Security and IT Professionals, Lawyers, Paralegals, Auditors, Accountants, Technology Managers or Vendors and individuals interested in the law of business, contracts, fraud, crime, IT security, IT liability and IT policy with a focus on electronically stored and transmitted records. GLEG does not require any prerequisites or specific training. GLEG candidates are required to pass a written exam.

The SFPC is a prerequisite for the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC).

The Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) provides a recognized and reliable indication of a security practitioner's ability to apply foundational concepts, principles, and practices needed to successfully perform functions, implement programs, and pursue missions to protect DoD assets. The SAPPC is ideal for personnel who will be or are already performing security functions as an additional and/or embedded duty on behalf of (and as specified by) a DoD Component. The certification is also ideal for personnel who are working toward or already occupy full-time security positions for which attainment of this certification has been deemed a requirement or a professional development milestone. The SAPPC is the second of four certifications within the SPeD Certification Program. To obtain the SAPPC, candidates must already be a recipient of the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).

The Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE), Physical Security Certification (PSC) is a part of Department of Defense's (DoD) Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. PSC is ideal for DoD, Industry, and federal members performing physical security functions. PSC assesses foundational knowledge in the following areas of expertise: physical security concepts; physical security standards; standards, countermeasures, and planning; and physical security planning and implementation. Candidates must be a DoD personnel or a federal employee or contractor assigned to a security position to be eligible for the exam. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Defense Intelligence Agency PMO (DIA), Certified Collection Management Professional - Fundamental (CCMP-F) is a professional level certification that assesses collection management (CM) knowledge that is common, core, and critical to CM activities across the Defense Collection Management Enterprise (DCME).  By earning the CCMP-F, certification holders demonstrate knowledge that supports work in joint, multiple-intelligence discipline environments across all echelons of the DCME.  This knowledge includes a common professional lexicon, or list of professional terms and concepts, and it enables collection managers to transfer their knowledge from a job at one DCME organization to any other. The CCMP-F exam is open to any individual in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), though most candidates come from within the DCME.  All candidates must possess an active TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance at the time of the certification assessment and must be in ‘good standing' as defined by their employing component. The Defense Intelligence Agency PMO (DIA), Certified Defense All-Source Analysis - I (CDASA-I) is an intermediate level credential designed as part of an effort to professionalize the military and civilian Defense Department intelligence workforce. CDASA-1s must demonstrate knowledge and ability in All-Source Analysis skills and maintain their analytic abilities through continuing education. These skills ensure an integrated, agile intelligence force that can support departmental requirements in an ever-changing environment. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Defense Intelligence Agency PMO (DIA), Joint Intelligence Planner-Proficiency Level I (JIP-I) is part of the DoD-wide initiative to professionalize the intelligence workforce directed by the USD(I). JIP-I was created to develop, define, and measure broad-based core competencies for joint IP professionals across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). JIP-I certification covers both Foundational and Full Performance execution of IP and ensures all joint intelligence planners understand the core concepts of IP and how they support Joint Operations Planning (JOP) and the planning of intelligence operations. Candidates must have at least 18 months of Intelligence Planning Experience performed within the last three years and must currently hold an active TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and be in 'good standing' as defined by their employing Component.

The NCS4 Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) credential is a mid-level security certification. CSSPs are individuals at the middle and upper levels of organizations and who are in leadership roles responsible for the planning and overall security operations of sport venues and events have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform their job. The CSSP certification focuses on advancing the sports safety and security industry by addressing the competency requirements of current security professionals and those related professionals in law enforcement, emergency management, government, public safety, human resources, and operations specialists, among others. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of experience working in a comprehensive safety and security management position and a minimum of 50 contact hours directly relating to sports/special event safety and security management. A four-year degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience. Candidates must pass a written exam.

Highly attainable: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement = HS or less and/or minimum experience = 2 years or less experience and no additional requirements.

Medium

Moderate ease of attainment: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement = Associate's and/or prerequisite and/or minimum experience = more than 2 years and less than 10 years of experience.

Low

May be difficult to attain: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement is a Bachelor's degree, and/or minimum experience is 10 or more years.
