ASI 1D Digital Media Collector (DMC)

ASI Description

Identifies personnel only requiring qualification as a Digital Media Collector. Personnel, who are the first to respond, secure, preserve, and/or collect digital evidence at crime scenes or during a site exploitation. Personnel with the Digital Media Collector ASI will be certified and trained to legally seize digital media in a manner which would allow further prosecution in a court of law.

In addition to obtaining certifications in your field, advanced education is another way to enhance job performance.

Continuing Education

Enlisted Soldiers and Warrant Officers can review Associate and Bachelor degrees in their assigned military discipline, technical field, or leadership to assist in a clear pathway to completing a degree.

The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM), Certified Records Manager (CRM) credential provides a strong foundation of competencies and core skills for professionals responsible for the management of records. CRMs, who are skilled in general management, must demonstrate a understanding of all aspects of records management, including creation, storage and disposition, management, and control, using recordkeeping technologies. Candidates must pass a written exam. In addition, candidates must write two business case studies that demonstrate their ability to apply and convey their knowledge to upper management, clients, and other constituents.

The CompTIA A+ ce certification demonstrates competency as a computer support technician. The A+ ce certification is appropriate for entry-level technicians who perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. Security, safety and environmental issues, and communication and professionalism are also covered. It is recommended, although not required, that candidates have nine to twelve months of related hands-on experience as an IT professional.

Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Network+ ce is an intermediate skill level certification for IT technicians who can describe the features and functions of networking components and manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure. In addition, certification holders have a basic understanding of enterprise technologies, including cloud and virtualization technologies. Network+ ce is appropriate for computer network technicians, engineers, analysts and administrators. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Network+ ce candidates have at least nine months of experience in network support or administration or academic training, along with a CompTIA A+ ce certification.

The ASIS International, Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification is for security management professionals who demonstrate knowledge and competency in all areas of security management. CPP candidates must have been employed full-time in a security-related role and meet education and/or experience requirements, which include at least three years of experience in responsible charge of a security function. Candidates must also pass a written exam.

Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Security+ ce certification designates knowledgeable professionals in the field of IT security. Security+ ce is an entry-level certification that demonstrates a candidates knowledge and skills required to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks, and devices; perform threat analysis and respond with appropriate mitigation techniques; participate in risk mitigation activities; and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations. The successful candidate will perform these tasks to support the principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. It is recommended that candidates hold the Network+ and two years of experience in IT administration with a security focus.

The International Association of Interviewers (IAI), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) is for candidates who have expertise in conducting a variety of investigative interviews with victims, witnesses, suspects or other sources to determine the facts regarding suspicions, allegations or specific incidents in either public or private sector settings.  The CFI demonstrates understanding of legal aspects of interviewing and proficiency in interview preparation, behavioral analysis, accusatory and non-accusatory interviewing, documentation, and presentation of findings. Candidates must meet a combination of experience and education requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI), Certified Professional Investigator (CPI), is a recognized symbol of excellence and achievement in the investigator and security professions. Candidates must be a licensed Private Investigator or the equivalent and have been licensed for a minimum of three consecutive years immediately preceding submitting an application. Candidates must pass a written exam.

International Association for Identification (IAI), Latent Print Certification recognizes an applicant's in-depth knowledge and understanding of friction skin physiology and morphology, terminology, detection, recovery, photography, preservation, enhancement, analysis, comparison, documentation and reporting of latent print evidence. Latent Print Certification applicants are primarily employed in the field of Forensic Science with duties that include the examination and comparison of latent print evidence, as well as providing expert testimony when necessary. Eligibility requirements include formal education, technical training, experience, and two letters of endorsement. Applicants must pass a written exam.

International Association for Identification (IAI),Tenprint Fingerprint Certification is designed for individuals who are currently working in the field of tenprint matters. Tenprint Fingerprint Certification recognizes an applicant's knowledge of tenprint examinations, historical and current tenprint guidelines and standards, the history, foundation and scientific methodology used in Friction Ridge Science, and current topics and/or scientific studies within the tenprint discipline. Applicants should be able to compare friction ridge impressions of known to unknown subjects and arrive at a conclusion based on current objectively accepted methodology, recognize and interpret friction ridge impressions, and accurately record a complete tenprint record. Eligibility requirements for Tenprint Fingerprint Certification include formal education, technical training, experience, and two letters of endorsement. Applicants must pass an exam and submit a personally recorded tenprint record.

The International Association for Identification (IAI), Certified Crime Scene Analyst is a mid-level certification for crime investigative professionals. Crime Scene Analysts work under general supervision responding to crime scenes and perform a broad range of investigative tasks to document the crime scene including taking photographs, and recovering and processing evidence. A minimum of three years of experience in crime scene related activities is required. There are also minimum training and education requirements associated with this certification.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification validates an individual's knowledge and experience in the safety profession. ASP certifies an individual's ability to perform at least 50% of professional-level safety duties in safety, health, environment, and ergonomics. Safety professionals are required to make worksite assessments to determine risks, potential hazards and controls, evaluate risks and hazard control measures for equipment, systems, facilities, and processes, investigate incidents, maintain and evaluate incident and loss records, and prepare emergency response plans. ASP candidates must meet a combination of education and experience requirements. Candidates must take a written exam.

INFORMS, Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification advances the use of analytics by setting agreed upon standards for the profession and advances the profession by providing a means for organizations to identify and develop qualified analytics professionals, by contributing to the career success and continued competence for analytics professionals, and by improving the credibility and visibility of the analytics profession. The CAP examination measures acceptable performance across seven major areas or domains of practice that adhere to the analytics end-to-end process: business problem framing, analytics problem framing, data, methodology selection, model building, deployment, and model life cycle management. Candidates must have a minimum of a BA/BS degree and at least 7 years of professional analytics related experience.

The Defense Intelligence Agency PMO (DIA), Certified Collection Management Professional - Fundamental (CCMP-F) is a professional level certification that assesses collection management (CM) knowledge that is common, core, and critical to CM activities across the Defense Collection Management Enterprise (DCME).  By earning the CCMP-F, certification holders demonstrate knowledge that supports work in joint, multiple-intelligence discipline environments across all echelons of the DCME.  This knowledge includes a common professional lexicon, or list of professional terms and concepts, and it enables collection managers to transfer their knowledge from a job at one DCME organization to any other. The CCMP-F exam is open to any individual in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), though most candidates come from within the DCME.  All candidates must possess an active TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance at the time of the certification assessment and must be in ‘good standing' as defined by their employing component. These skills ensure an integrated, agile intelligence force that can support departmental requirements in an ever-changing environment. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The Defense Intelligence Agency PMO (DIA), Joint Intelligence Planner-Proficiency Level I (JIP-I) is part of the DoD-wide initiative to professionalize the intelligence workforce directed by the USD(I). JIP-I was created to develop, define, and measure broad-based core competencies for joint IP professionals across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). JIP-I certification covers both Foundational and Full Performance execution of IP and ensures all joint intelligence planners understand the core concepts of IP and how they support Joint Operations Planning (JOP) and the planning of intelligence operations. Candidates must have at least 18 months of Intelligence Planning Experience performed within the last three years and must currently hold an active TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and be in 'good standing' as defined by their employing Component.

The Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Fundamentals Professional Certification (IFPC) program is sponsored by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (USD(I)) to professionalize the defense intelligence workforce by establishing a common standard of the fundamental knowledge and skills expected of all who serve and support, and those who hope to serve and support, in the Defense Intelligence Enterprise (DIE). The IFPC is based on the Defense Intelligence Fundamentals standards, which are cross-cutting and enterprise-wide, and depict the Department’s core expectations of what all Defense Intelligence Professionals, regardless of Service/Agency, Function/Specialty and experience level, must know and/or be able to do to successfully execute and/or contribute to the execution of intelligence missions, functions, and activities at the fundamental level. The IFPC will also serve to ensure incoming defense intelligence professionals meet knowledge standards. IFPC candidates must meet minimum eligibility requirements and pass a written exam.
