MOS 13J Fire Control Specialist

MOS Description

The Fire Control Specialist employs automated computer-based systems used in all U.S. Army echelons across multiple weapon systems and formations in order to facilitate the delivery and integration of joint fires in support of combat operations. The Fire Control Specialist integrates and processes tactical battlefield information from multiple users and sensors through a network of Army and JOINT automated battle command systems. The Fire Control Specialist employs automated systems in order to process technical firing solutions, apply gunnery fundamentals critical to the 5 Requirements for Accurate Fires, process precision tactical fire missions, control tactical fires, conduct Joint sensor management, integrate fire support coordination measures, integrate maneuver control measures, manage and process meteorological data and troubleshoot technical firing solutions. The Fire Control Specialist performs operator and unit level maintenance on all automated tools and section equipment.

The NJROTC Certification is is conducted at accredited secondary schools throughout the nation, and taught by instructors who are retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel. The NJROTC accredited curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by extra-curricular activities of community service, academic, athletic, drill and orienteering competitions, field meets, flights, visits to naval or other activities, marksmanship sports training, and physical fitness training. Candidates must be enrolled in and attending a regular course of instruction in a grade 9 through 12 at the school hosting the unit, must be physically qualified to participate fully in the physical education program of the host school, must be selected by the NJROTC instructor with the approval of the school principal or his/her representative, must maintain acceptable standards of academic achievement and an academic standing that warrants at least normal progression leading to graduation, and must maintain acceptable standards of conduct. The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), Broadband-Voice over Internet Protocol (B-VoIP) certification is an intermediate-level credential for B-VoIP technicians who install, maintain, repair and replace voice, data and video over Internet Protocol equipment. B-VoIP technicians connect B-VoIP equipment to local and wide area computer network systems, perform cable installation, replacement, modernization, and support interconnection between different cable types and wireless equipment; they also configure and provision B-VoIP equipment and transmission media. B-VoIP technicians have knowledge of protocols used for the telecommunications industry and are familiar with telecom industry acronyms and language. Computing Technology Industry Assocation (CompTIA), Server+ is an intermediate skill level certification for IT technical support professionals that certifies the technical knowledge and skills required to build, maintain, troubleshoot and support server hardware and software technologies. The certification focuses on server-specific hardware and operating systems as well as virtualization, disaster recovery and security procedures.
