The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification demonstrates the professional's ability to handle, manage, or advise others on hazardous materials or situations associated with or these items in a safe and compliant manner. A CHMM may work for a corporation, business, government, or in a related field associated with hazardous materials such as environmental protection, safety, hazmat transportation, or security.  Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of relevant work experience.  Candidates must also pass a written exam.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification is an intermediate, managerial credential developed for professionals who demonstrate competency and work part-time or full-time in supervisory positions with tasks devoted to the prevention of harm to individuals in the workplace environment. The STS is often sought by safety professionals who are first-line supervisors and managers. STS applicants must have expertise in monitoring worksites for job hazards, helping to ensure regulatory compliance occurs, training employees in safety practices, performing safety-related record keeping, coordinating corrections for safety problems within or among work groups, and communicating with safety specialists or management. Applicants must pass a written examination.

The United States Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is for individuals who drive certain Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs). There are three classes of CDLs with endorsements for specialized qualifications for vehicles like school buses, tank trucks, and tractor trailers. The U.S. Department of Transportation requires drivers to obtain and hold a CDL if they operate in interstate, intrastate, or foreign commerce and drive a vehicle that meets one or more of the classifications of a CMV described on the FMSCA website. FMSCA has developed and issued standards for state testing and licensing of CDL holders. These standards require state governments to issue CDLs to certain CMV drivers only after the driver passes knowledge and skills testing that is administered by the state and related to the type of vehicle the driver expects to operate.

United States Department of Transportation (FMCSA), Passenger Endorsement (P), is prohibited from operating a CMV carrying passengers, other than Federal/state auditors and inspectors, test examiners, other trainees, and the CDL holder accompanying the CLP holder as prescribed by 49CFR383.25(a)(1).

The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professional (SMRP), Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is a certification for maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professionals. CMRP candidates should possess aptitude in the following areas: business and management, equipment reliability, manufacturing process reliability, organization and leadership, and work management. There are no experience or education eligibility requirements. Candidates must pass a written exam.

The CHMP is intended to enhance regulatory compliance, safety, and overall credibility of operations, and provide recognition to individuals who meet its rigorous requirements. Candidates must meet a combination of education and/or experience requirements and pass a written exam.

The Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I), General Communications Technician Level 1 (GCT1) certification is an entry-level credential intended for radio communications technicians or engineers. The GCT1 certification is modeled after wide-ranging industry communication systems encompassing more specific detailed items along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidelines covering all disciplines in the COMT program. The purpose of the GCT1 is to provide basic certification testing that covers all areas a new radio communications technician or engineer will encounter in the public safety communications, business radio, or commercial radio field. ETA-I does not have minimum training, education, or experience requirements to take the certification exam.

The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), Boom Truck Fixed Cab Operator (BTF) certification attests to the knowledge and proficiency required for the safe operation of cranes. The Boom Truck—Fixed Cab Operator certification is a subcategory of the CCO Telescopic Boom—Fixed Cab (TSS) certification and was developed specifically for the industries that use these machines. Boom Truck Fixed Cab Operators lift, lower, and swing loads at various radii, requiring the use of outriggers/stabilizers. Candidates must pass a practical and written exam.

The Electronics Associate DC (EM1) is an entry-level credential designed for technicians in the electricity and electronics field. Candidates must pass a written examination testing their knowledge of various electrical and electronics concepts, electronic measurement equipment, electronic components, circuitry, and other related subjects specific to direct current (DC) electronics. The EM1 credential is one in a group of five credential modules; once a technician attains all five credentials, ETA will issue the Associate CET certification.

The Electronics Associate Comprehensive (EM5) is an entry-level credential designed for technicians in the electricity and electronics field. Candidates must pass a written examination testing their knowledge of soldering, desoldering, tools, electrical conductors, AC power distribution, circuit protection, circuit controls, generators, motors, interfacing of electronics products, and technician work procedures. The EM5 credential is one in a group of five credential modules; once a technician attains all five credentials, ETA will issue the Associate CET certification.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Safety Management Specialists (SMS) certification provides a candidate with management skills required for a business's safe operation. SMS candidates define and utilize an organization's safety management systems; risk management; incident investigation and emergency preparedness; maintain current knowledge of safety, health and environmental (SH&E) concepts; and identify the business case for safety. Candidates must meet the minimum work qualifications of either part-time or full-time in an occupational health or safety (at least 35% of the job tasks related to management of safety related programs, processes, procedures, and/or personnel). Candidate's must must pass a written exam.

High

Highly attainable: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement = HS or less and/or minimum experience = 2 years or less experience and no additional requirements.

Medium

Moderate ease of attainment: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement = Associate's and/or prerequisite and/or minimum experience = more than 2 years and less than 10 years of experience.

Low

May be difficult to attain: Credential is related to the duties performed within the military occupation, the minimum education requirement is a Bachelor's degree, and/or minimum experience is 10 or more years.
